Each year in August and September you will find the firefighters across the country standing in the intersections with their boots in their hands. Many ask why.
In 1954 the International Association of Fire Fighter’s became the first national sponsor of The Muscular Dystrophy Association. The funds raised help to support kids going to MDA camps, purchasing equipment and providing healthcare support. “Fill the Boot funds also are used to support some of the 300 worldwide research projects seeking better treatments and cures for the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and ALS.” – (www.mckinneyonline.com)
Since starting they have raised millions of dollars to help find a cure for the many diseases associated with MDA. Mehlville Firefighters would like to thank all of you for your continued support. With your hep, we were able to raise over $27,000 this year and more than $100,000 in the past 5 years.
